How to Get Over Post College Depression

How to Get Over Post College Depression After graduation from college or high school, many students feel energized and positive. However, there are also students who face severe depressions, emotional breakdowns, and addictions. If you feel that something is wrong with you, and you are confused and lonely, then this article is for you. Our tips will help you recognize the dangerous symptoms of post-graduation depression and pull yourself through this tough period of your life. A disclaimer: the best option would be to turn to a doctor for professional treatment. What Are Post Grad Depression and Its Symptoms? You have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Graduation, diploma, bachelor degree, freedom of choice and self-expression. But after caps thrown in the air, you suddenly realized that you dont know what to do in your life and all of your plans for the future that were so bright and clear yesterday just make no sense today. This is what depression is. A stunning feeling of loneliness and emptiness mixed with confusion and lack of energy to even leave your bed in the morning. A lot of people face crises and depressions during their lives. Psychologists claim that there are common ages when an individual is more subject to various mental disorders, for example, the â€Å"half-life crisis† or â€Å"quarter-life crisis.† The main thing about these conditions is that many people of a certain age have similar problems with sleep, self-esteem, emotional control and finances. By the way, if you are having any problems with finances, you should find out how to manage your finances better after college. The â€Å"quarter-life crisis† commonly occurs around the age of graduating from college. This condition might get even worse due to a stressing situation of being unemployed and confused after the graduation which can compile into a severe depression. The main symptoms of post-college depression are: Being disorganized and unfocused Lacking motivation and energy Being sad or annoyed without a reason Feeling like you are running out of time Feeling miserable and worthless Feeling confused and frustrated Falling into addictions – cigarettes, alcohol, drugs Feeling lonely and abandoned Feeling like a failure If you started to feel like you have too many options to choose from and even after getting your degree you are not sure what you want in your life and considering the option of moving back home, its okay – you are just getting mature. But if you cant find the smallest thing that you enjoy and are constantly unfocused or numb, then you need to start pulling yourself out from this state. How to Fight the Crisis? The first step and the most essential one is to confess the fact that something is wrong with you. If you are reading this article, then you have already done it. Congratulations, your recovery journey starts right now! It’s time to focus. Set Up Your Goals Beating depression is not a quick process. You have to start working through slowly. Think about your dreams and your goals, make a list of them: Your life goals – huge ambitions and dreams – to become a successful specialist in a particular field, to find a dream job, to build a family. Year goals – accomplishments you want to achieve in one year – to get a job after college, to rent the apartment, etc. Monthly goals – realistic goals for one month – to get rid of all unnecessary things in the apartment, to send out your resumes to at least 30 companies, to read a book. Daily goals – small steps to take every day – to make dinner, to clean a wardrobe, to buy groceries. As you can see, the smallest steps you take can lead to larger achievements. It might seem like a waste of time, but the pleasure of crossing out the things that you have accomplished is more satisfying than you might think. Moreover, you will have your plan as a reminder that every day you become closer to making your dreams come true. Make a Meal Plan People in depression have a tendency to skip meals. As a result, they feel even more broken down and tired. You have to force yourself to eat to stay healthy and energized. Make a plan of meals for a week and follow it closely. You can always turn to the resources that might help you in understanding what type of food and how much of it you should consume daily. For example, Eating Well, Abbeys Kitchen, etc. When you dont feel the hunger, its hard to recognize that your body is starving. So, don’t forget to check out tips on how you can eat healthy on a budget. Establish a daily schedule Work on the schedule of your perfect day. Dont lay in bed the whole time, find the strength to get up and start living in the real world. Find the time to go for a walk daily, have your social life, and exercise. Dedicate some time to job hunting and your hobbies. Dont forget about daily meals and your favorite TV shows. And the most important one – go to bed and get up at the same time every day. When you have your day organized, you will realize that your entire life can be organized and structured too, so there are no chaotic activities in it. Try to avoid scrolling social media feed all day long – it doesn’t help you to focus on your accomplishment but distract you from your goals instead. Visit a Doctor The most important piece of advice would be to visit a doctor for a prescribed medication. You might be against pills, but some sedative wont hurt – at least you will sleep well. Moreover, a specialist might advise you to practice certain psychological exercises – yoga, meditation, hypnosis, group therapy, support system, etc. Start changing your life today. You can make your living better if you take a chance. And remember that the state you are in now is not permanent, your future is bright!

Calls To Action

Calls To Action Calls To Action Calls To Action By Maeve Maddox A reader wonders about the plural for a marketing term: Recently the CEO of a company wrote an email to me saying that his software would automatically generate call-to-actions. I am pretty sure he should have written calls-to-action. Am I right? The reader is correct. When pluralizing a compound word that contains more than one noun, the general rule is to make the principal noun plural. In this case, call is the principal noun. The plural is â€Å"calls to action.† The term â€Å"call to action† refers to the part of an advertisement that prompts a consumer to act. In texts intended for readers in the marketing industry, the term is usually written CTA. â€Å"Buy now!† and â€Å"Order now!† are typical CTAs. As â€Å"call to action† does not have an entry in the OED, Merriam-Webster Unabridged, Collins, or the AP Stylebook, I can’t cite one of my usual authorities as to whether the noun form should be hyphenated. My instinct is that it should not. The view expressed in The AP Stylebook reflects the common attitude among publishers: â€Å"The fewer hyphens the better; use them only when not using them causes confusion.† A Web search isn’t much help in discovering which form–hyphenated or non-hyphenated–is more common with â€Å"call to action.† I did find a business blog that plumps for the hyphens: call-to-action, calls-to-action, CTA, CTAs:  Always hyphenate when used as a noun (as in â€Å"call-to-action† or â€Å"calls-to-action†) or an adjective (as in â€Å"call-to-action button† or â€Å"call-to-action manager†). Whenever possible, try to use  CTA  or  CTAs  instead of the hyphenated version (it’s a mouthful!). However, the unhyphenated phrase seems to be the preferred choice in reputable British, Australian, American, and Canadian publications and on government sites. â€Å"Call for action† can be understood without hyphens as a noun, but it does require them when the phrase is used as a modifier. Here are examples of both noun and adjective use: Every website should have a call to action, a response you want users to complete. Does Your White Paper Have a Call to Action? Intellectual Journal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Intellectual Journal - Essay Example According to the prescription of prayer, any true Muslim should attend to prayers during the prescribed times five times a day. If they fail to follow this prescription, they will surely fall into disbelief. I have observed with admiration Muslims observing the daily prayers as required by the Holy Quran. However, from my understanding of God as being spirit, one of the requirements for His worship is that those who worship Him must do so in spirit. Therefore, according to my view of prayer, it is not the frequency of attendance to the Mosque that counts but rather the state of our spirit, whether it is in harmony with the spirit of God or not. As result, the strict observance of prayer in Islam, somehow conflicts with my understanding that God is everywhere and cannot be contained in a particular place or time. Although, from an ecumenical point of view, such an understanding of the obligations of prayer by Muslims will change the perspective I hold in terms of embracing them at wor k or to attend to their spiritual obligations which ensures harmonious existence in society. In her article What everyone should know about Islam and Muslims, Suzzane Haneef (156) considers Zakah as one of the most fundamental elements of prayer and worship in the Islamic faith. It refers to the acts of Muslim worship by means of his or her wealth through an obligatory form of giving to those in need. As mentioned in the above article, â€Å"Islam proclaims that the true owner of everything is not the human being but God who bestows wealth on people out of His beneficence as He sees fit † (Suzzane Haneef 59). According to this statement, contrary to the wealth perspective of non-Muslims who uphold the view that wealth is as a result of their hard work, the true believer of Muslim acknowledges that all wealth they have is from God. There a Muslim should always be filled with gratitude and be ready to offer part of their wealth to those who lack in society. First and foremost, like many non-Muslims, I certainly do not consider it a spiritual obligation to give to the poor. The Islamic obligation of Zakah is conflicting with the belief I hold, that it is fine for one to be filled with compassion towards those in need, but certainly I consider it not to be obligatory. I have always known that society is divided into social classes and it is their sole responsibility to work towards improving their condition of life. I also would consider giving Zakah as an act that may encourage tendencies of laziness in society. For example, I see poor people sitting on the entrance of Mosques waiting for worshipers to give them bread for the day (Maudoodi 54). In most cases, the worshipers do not offer a long lasting solution to the condition of the poor. As a result reading about Zakah concept in Islamic worship provokes thoughts that tend to view it as something that encourages master slave mentalities in society. My understanding of giving is that it is should come nat urally and in a spontaneous manner from the giver. If giving becomes obligatory, it will reach a time when the giver will get tired of giving. My view of giving is that one should give to a person or place or event that has inspired them. According to Suzzane Haneef’s article titled, What everyone should know about Islam and Muslims, family life is considered one of the most emphasized areas in Islam. The Islamic view of marriage, where social contact between young men and young ladies is discouraged, conflicts with my understanding that every young man and lady has a right to social contacts (Haneef 155). From my point of view I consider it important that young men and women be

A Foreign artist in Paris - Pablo Picasso Research Paper

A Foreign artist in Paris - Pablo Picasso - Research Paper Example The research paper "A Foreign artist in Paris - Pablo Picasso" discover one of the most incredible artists of modern era. Pablo Picasso is a famous artist from Spain. Artistic impression may have been passed onto the young Picasso, as his father practiced his specialty of painting especially of naturalistic depictions. This gene was passed from the father, as he proved to be an illustrious professor and curator; this in the city’s School of Crafts and a local museum respectively. This artistic capacity was evident from a young age, to be trained henceforth from the young age of seven years. His father was responsible for his early learning, especially in oil painting and figure drawing. As a traditional instructor and academic artist, his father was of the belief that proper training necessitated the disciplined learning from existing art masters. In addition was the need for skill in drawing the human body from both live models and plaster casts, with Picasso becoming engross ed in art; to the detriment of his schooling. It is after the tragic death of his sister that the family moved to Barcelona. Later, he was admitted in the city’s School of Fine Arts at the age of just 13 years. But his conduct could not sustain him in the center, instead transferring to Madrid’s Royal Academy, which is the nation’s foremost art center. However, his spirit was wild, being unable to sustain his schooling, to later on stop class attendance at the age of 16 years. His focus was henceforth shifted to other areas of interest.

The Genius of Hamlet, the Very Sane Prince of Denmark Essay -- Hamlet

The Genius of Hamlet, the Very Sane Prince of Denmark Hamlet in Shakepeare's The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark is often seen as a lunatic. Lucid and ingenious, Prince Hamlet falls into a state of emotional turmoil, but he is never insane. Hamlet feigns madness to reveal his anguish concerning the two women he used to love - his mother Gertrude and his lover Ophelia. To escape estrangement from his countrymen, Hamlet appears to waver between madness and sanity. And, to avoid moral estrangement, the Prince plans on revenging his father's death under the guise of madness. There is no question that Hamlet feigns insanity, and he does so to voice his emotions to the two closest women in his life, to influence the opinions of his peers, and to plan the revenge of his father's death. With his famous line "frailty, thy name is woman" (I, ii. 146), Hamlet descends into an abyss of emotional turmoil. He loses faith in his mother Queen Gertrude and in his lover Ophelia. Feigning madness, Hamlet is able to make his innermost anguish known to these two important women in his life. Still grieving at his father's death, Hamlet is shocked when his mother Queen Gertrude marries Claudius two months after the King's death. At this point in the play, Hamlet does not feign madness but is genuinely and openly melancholy. As Hamlet explains to his mother, his "inky cloak" shows his grief, but the pain is much deeper. Grief is not a sign of madness. Gertrude feels that her son has greatly changed, for he no longer views her as his mother . Instead, he calls her his â€Å"good-mother† - his step mother. Gertrude marrying her husband's brother is incestuous, and this bestirs feelings of bitterness in Hamlet. However, sinc... ...mark. Unable to speak freely before Queen Gertrude and Ophelia, Hamlet exaggerates his emotional turmoil so that these two women will soften their attitudes towards him and listen to him. Not only does Hamlet wish to win back the hearts of Gertrude and Ophelia, these two women also serve to verify Hamlet's supposed madness to the other characters. Furthermore, Hamlet must hide his rationality and cunning from his peers and from King Claudius so that he may proceed with his revenge plan. Freed from the suspicions of his mother, his lover, his peers, and King Claudius, Hamlet succeeds in avenging his father's death and in remaining sane throughout the play. REVIEW IN LITERATURE OF HUMAN RESOURCE Every business unit needs human resource (manpower) for the conduct of different business activities. In fact, no organisation can exist or operate efficiently without the support of human resource. Such human resource includes top level managers, executives, supervisors and other subordinate / lower level staff / employees.A business organisation has to estimate its future manpower needs and adjust its manpower planning and development programmes accordingly. This is called ‘staffing' function of management. Human resource management is also described as personnel management or manpower management. According to Edwin Flippo, â€Å"Personnel Management is the planning, organizing , directing and controlling of the procurement, development, compensation, integration and maintenance of people for the purpose of contributing to organizational, individual and social goals†.Various areas such as recruitment and selection, wage payment and industrial l relations are covered under human resource management. Human Resource Development Human Resource Development (HRD) means to develop available manpower through suitable methods such as training, promotions, transfers and opportunities for career development. HRD programmes create a team of welltrained, efficient and capable managers and subordinates. Such team constitutes an important asset of an enterprise. One organisation is different from a nother mainly because of the people (employees) working therein. According to Peter F .Druker, â€Å"the prosperity, if not the survival of any business depends on the performance of its managers of tomorrow. † The human resource should be nurtured and used for the benefit of the organisation. Human resource is most important resource in management and needs to be used efficiently. This is because success, stability and growth of an organisation depend on its ability in acquiring, utilizing and developing the human resources for the benefit of the organisation. In the final analysis, it is the people (i. e employees) who produce promising results and generate a climate conductive to the growth and development of an organisation.HR is a highly productive corporate asset and the overall performance of companies and corporations depends upon the extent to which it is effectively developed and utilised. It is the most delicate factor of production and need not be treated merely a s a commodity to be bought and used in factories. According to Peter Drucker, â€Å"The function of management is to manage managers, workers and work†. The importance of manpower in business management is now universally accepted. Employees have a capacity to grow and develop, if suitable opportunities are offered. They give positive response to monetary and nonmonetary incentives, training opportunities, favorable work environment and motivation. According to Pigors and Myers, â€Å"Good management means getting effective results with people†. This suggests the importance of human resource. Human resource is certainly important even in this age of extensive use of computer technology. This is because machine cannot be used as a substitute for human brain which has capacity to think, assess and react. It is correct to say that man is a power rather than man has a power.Progressive / professional managements invest huge funds on training and development of human resourc e and this suggests the importance of human resource and its contribution in industrial and economic development. Professionally managed companies in India such as Larsen and Toubro Ltd, TELCO, Reliance, etc. , give specia l importance and good attention to HRD. How and why did the media fail in the Rwandan genocide in 1994 Free Essay Example, 2500 words

In the first week of the Rwandan genocide, the reporting by the international media had a number of flaws. First, the international media thought the genocide was a civil war. Between 1990 and 1993, the country had experienced a low-level civil war, and the international media mistook the genocide for a full-scale civil war. Rwanda has a long history of animosity between the Hutu majority and the Tutsi minority that dates back to the late 1950s. On this note, when the violence erupted on April 6, 1994, the international media reported the initial violence in the country’s capital city as a resumption of civil war between Hutu majority and the Tutsi minority. In addition, early reports from the western media indicated that the Tutsi rebels had overpowered the government and rejected any notion of a cease-fire from the Hutu-led government. As such, the report by the Western media contradicted the idea that the real victims were the Tutsi minority. By 13th April, 1994, for insta nce, the Radio France International claimed that Kigali was falling in the hands of the Tutsi Rebels (Schimmel, 2011). We will write a custom essay sample on How and why did the media fail in the Rwandan genocide in 1994 or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/pageorder now In other Western Media organisations, it was reported that the Hutu feared vengeance from the Tutsi rebels. This created a situation where the western media presented a picture that violence in Rwanda was on the wane while, in reality, the violence was mounting (Schimmel, 2011). In another example that depicts how the international media failed in the Rwandan genocide; the New York Times alluded just four days into the genocide that the violence in Kigali had reduced. These contradictory reports were as a result of the mass exodus of foreigners from Rwanda at that time, including the international correspondents from various international media organisations. In addition, because of the exodus, the press coverage of the events taking place in Rwanda was virtually halted. However, at the time that the media coverage of the violence in Rwanda was halted, this is the period when the massacre of Tutsis heightened (Schoemaker & Stremlau, 2014). On the other hand, the early death count reported by the media was an underestimation of the reality of events taking place across the country. In the second week of the genocide, the media still did not have the actual estimates, and the death count reported never increased. As such, the death count reported by the media was not considered genocidal for a country that had a population of approximately 8million of which 85% were Hutus and 14% Tutsis (Yanagizawa-Drott, 2014).
